Just started a series of paintings several months ago using the universal symbols for X’s and O’s for signs of embracing and showing affection. With all the fighting, bloodshed and lack of compassion that is witnessed in the news today, I felt a need to comment through my painting the suggestion to embrace each others differences, as well as, the likenesses. While many of my paintings result in colorful, cheerful, semi-abstract images, they are a creative vehicle for me to work out the frustrations of the world I see and experience around me. They are like psychological sessions for me and result, most times, in a more peaceful spirit within upon their completion. While I might not be able to change the world, I can put my perspective out there to share and provoke some thought through my images. There will be 7 – 8 paintings in the series and 7 are finished and ready for photographing. This one, the 1st in the series, is called Embrace #1, 16″ X 12″, acrylic/mixed media on canvas, $650. While the first 3 images are smaller paintings and can be viewed in the Newest Paintings section of my website now, the last 4 paintings in the series are larger, 30″ X 24″ and should be up on my website by mid July. Comments on the subject or the paintings are most welcome.
